Travel Plans and Travel Plan Management

Travel Plans

DTA have developed travel plans and sustainable travel strategies for virtually all development types often to support a planning application but also as stand-alone travel plans developed to fulfil an organisation’s green travel aspirations.

We will work with an organisation to prepare a travel plan which is appropriate to their circumstances or can alternatively provide a framework plan where the end user of a development is not yet known. For example we have developed travel plans for the following

  • Darenth Road, Dartford, Kent– two travel plans to support residential and employment development proposals. Both successfully agreed with Kent CC and the Highways Agency.
  • Mereham proposed New Community – a sustainable transport strategy designed to be implemented at Community level embracing a range of land uses including employment, residential and education.
  • Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind– a travel plan which aimed to facilitate safe and sustainable access for an organisation within which the majority of members were blind or had impaired eyesight. Successfully agreed with Sheffield City Council.
  • Kings High School for Girls– the development of a travel plan for a non-residential independent school with a wide geographical base from which students travel. Successfully agreed with Warwickshire County Council.
  • Wolseley UK– a travel plan designed to adhere to local county council requirements for the development of Wolseley UK’s National Distribution Centre. Successfully agreed with Warwickshire County Council.
  • Telford College of Art and Technology– a travel plan being developed with the college to embrace the needs of staff and students whilst reducing the vehicular impact on the highway network which would otherwise result from the College’s expansion.

Travel Plan Management
The nature of many new travel plans often means that it is not practical or cost effective to support the role of an on-site Travel Plan Co-ordinator. Moreover a collective approach to managing plans can significantly reduce costs. DTA provides off-site travel plan management reducing the need to appoint a site-specific co-ordinator in some circumstances. A Travel Plan managed by DTA has the benefit of an existing network of well established contacts within this field.

We can maintain current public transport information, arrange for the production and delivery of home welcome packs, arrange for travel surveys to be undertaken and for the implementation of the measures set out within the plan. Unlike appointing a dedicated co-ordinator we charge only for the work undertaken either on an hourly basis or within a fixed fee framework. Give us a call to discuss you requirements.
