Bengeworth Primary School
Bengeworth Primary School site formed part of a residential application that was undertaken for Miller Homes. Originally called Offenham Road, the application was for 510 residential units. Included was the relocation and expansion of the local primary school facility.
DTA represented Miller Homes and obtained permission for the residential element of the development. Subsequently Worcestershire County Council Education Authority approached DTA to deliver the transport statement to support the first phase of the Primary School for 180 pupils, with the understanding that there would be a possibility of three phases for up to a total of 470 pupils.
DTA produced the transport statement to justify the first phase, utilising the travel plan information that the client had collected, to demonstrate that the travel patterns for children to the new school by all modes would be acceptable. This also included the detailed design of the specific access arrangements. The complicated element of the access arrangements was that, for phase one, the school was to be accessed through the existing road network in Evesham which included a sharp bend that also provided access to the canal side. This access was also being used by abnormal loads carrying canal barges and cutting across footpaths so child safety was a key consideration. This was to be closed in subsequent phases and access taken through the new residential area. DTA achieved consent for their interim access submission in 2010. In June 2014, DTA completed the transport statement for the second phase of a further 180 pupils.
